Home of the National collection of modern and contemporary art the museum’s magnificent building was first opened in 1684. It was a home for retired soldiers housing up to 2,500 people at one point.
At present, IMMA has six exhibitions on display. One of the largest displays is named Art as Agency, it showcases the permanent display featuring more than 100 artists since the 1960s.
This exhibition will be the longest running in IMMA, spanning more than three years until 2028.


Internal exhibition from Jo Baer showcases her collection of artworks inspired by her stay in County Louth between 1975 and 1982.
These works can be found in some famous galleries such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Tate Gallery, London and of course, in IMMA.
